How To Pack An Eco Friendly Lunch

Making conscious choices about our lunch can have a huge impact on how much waste we are creating while we are away from home. Bringing a packed lunch and reducing the frequency of ordering take-out is kinder to the environment and your wallet. As some of us are going back into the office or school during this period, follow some of our favourite ways to make your lunch a little bit more eco friendly.

AVOID SINGLE USE PLASTIC BAGS AND ZIP LOCKS

Use Silicone Zip Lock Food Pouches to easily store food on the go. They are airtight, keeping your food fresh and super easy to clean - just flip them inside out and chuck them into the dishwasher.

SWAP TRADITIONAL CLING WRAP FOR PLASTIC FREE ALTERNATIVES

This Plastic Free Cling Wrap is made from cornstarch and after use, simply toss it in your home compost and it will completely break down in under 180 days.

FIND LOW WASTE LUNCH CONTAINERS
Instead of traditional plastic lunch boxes, there are some great alternatives made from sustainable materials such as this Bamboo Lunch Box produced from bamboo, corn and melamine. This Stainless Steel and Silicone Bento Box version is kid friendly with divided compartments to separate different snacks.

SAY NO TO BUYING BOTTLED WATER

Single use plastic water bottles mostly end up in landfill and will take up over 1000 years to break down. Getting into the habit of carrying a reusable water bottle will save a lot of money in the long run! Opt for an Insulated Version to keep your drink cold or hot throughout the day. If you’re concerned about taste, you can install a water filter to your tap.

KEEP EVERYTHING IN A LUNCH CARRIER BAG

Popping everything into Lunch Bag will keep your food fresh, catch any spills and save you from searching for that fork that has made friends with the coins and crumbs at the bottom of your bag!
